If somebody you know is about to get married and you can’t come because you’re too far away or it is a destination wedding or you simply can’t free up your schedule, the best thing that you can do for them is send in your best wishes. Since you can’t personally come to hand over your gift and shower them with your sincerest blessings, you might as well choose the perfect wedding greeting card to say all that your heart has to say.
When choosing wedding greeting cards, follow these tips:
1. Pick a card that best describes your feeling.
If you are overwhelmed with joy because your friend or relative is finally getting married, it should show on the wedding greeting card of your choice. The same goes true if you’re feeling optimistic, just in case this is her second or third wedding. You know how you feel. Choose carefully and don’t just get the card that you first saw on the shelf.
2. Get something written with nice thoughts inside.
There are blank cards and there are nicely written wedding greeting cards that captures your thoughts exactly. Take time in reading each card and pick the one that echoes the words of your heart. Of course, you can always add a few more lines and some personal messages in the card. But a good poem or a line of song printed inside could make a big difference.
3. Prefer real cards over e-cards.
When you compare an e-card and a wedding greeting card bought from a store, the latter is more personal. You get to put your own handwriting in it. You also get to mail it so that the couple you’re sending it to can touch it and keep it as a souvenir of some sorts. Cards sent through the post office are a lot better, more heartwarming, and has a longer lifespan than the ones downloaded over the internet.
4. Don’t look at the price tag.
You’re only purchasing one card. The price of that card shouldn’t matter at all – unless you have five friends getting married all at once and you can’t get to the ceremony of any one of them. You won’t be buying in bulk and you won’t spend over a hundred bucks on one wedding greeting card so don’t scrimp on it.
5. Think of the couple.
Are they fun-loving individuals? If so, maybe a humorous card will be perfect. If they are the serious types, then something formal may be in order. Consider your relationship to the bride and groom as well. If they are your best friends then anything you choose is good enough. However, if the bride is your boss’s daughter or somebody you barely know, pick a traditional wedding greeting card and you won’t go wrong.
Look over these tips and consider them seriously when getting a wedding greeting card for somebody to be married real soon. If you are artistic enough, you can always make a card out of scratch to further show how special the event and the couple are to you.
